Ms. Pearhead is about impermanence, decay and the resilience of the human spirit. I cut out polaroids of my eyes, ears and smiling mouth and pinned them onto three pears, like the Mr. Potato Head game of my childhood. Each day I took one picture of them for a full year placing a small card on the plate indicating what day it was in the sequence. No matter the degree of decay and despite the withering of the pear bodies, the pears bravely smile back at the camera, right up to the end.
